Attached are photo's of the Barge Gate, Hydraulic Rams and housing that need to be repaired on Big N
Basic the boxes the hold the Rams in place have cracked and the Top of the Barge Gate will need to be re fabricated and strengthened. Please note the crack on the top of the gate extends 2/3 rd's the way along the top
Estimated Costs of repairs arc:
| Lift Gate repair | $7000.00 |
|---|---|
| Hydraulic Ram Boxes (2) | $6800.00 |
| Hydraulic Rams (2) | TBA |
Hydraulic Rams, once they are removed Haul Over will be able estimate Repairs,
probably looking at around $1500 per Ram
Have scheduled the barge to be down next week for repairs, The General ( Boyson) will used for any trips.
can we proceed with repairs
Brice
Jeffrey,
I have done some research on this and here is what I have found.
When we purchased the barge in 2007 we installed a new Hydraulics system costing about $ 53,000. The rust on the cylinders has caused the seal to break therefore these repairs must be done and these estimates are not 100% solid and the cost could change we won't know until its taken apart and from speaking to Bill Bowles and Boscoe these estimates do not seem out of line for the work that will be done. Also from speaking to them if we had some kind of a regularly scheduled maintenance programs where we take the barge out of action and do regular upkeep and checkups this may have been caught a bit earlier and may not have been as severe. The barge is the lifeline of 151 and we need to make adjustments going forward to take it out of commission for regular inspections and maintenance and this goes for all the equipment and machinery so we don't wait until its broke to fix it.
Brice has the barge scheduled to go in for Monday
Thank you
