There is an MIT engineer called Bob Langer. He made this cool Necco-wafer looking thing to treat all kinds of stuff (including brain tumors). he's working on a lot of neat things right now, artificial pancreas, biodegradable cardiac stents, synthetic nerves/cartilage, and HAIR THICKENERS (hee hee).

I think you should meet him. His lab is filled with about 100 people that all look like Abercrombie & Fitch models (supposedly).
