Spent the evening in Kabul at dinner with the Company man who ran Charlie's war. No shit. It was him. Knows everything and everyone. Haqquani and he used to talk about who would kill the other guy first. Sovs had a big price on his head in Pak. He designed the program then did the on the ground execution (of the Soviet Union). After Charlie finally got married the Julia Roberts character invited new wife down to Houston for a dinner with she and a couple of local friends. Julia character raises her glass of wine and says (and I quote, but read with southern drawl) "Honey, you know what everyone at this table got in common?" PAUSE.... "We've all flicked old Charlie". He's about the best live entertainment I have run into in a very long time. Brilliant and spent 15 years in a dark alley. Station chief in Hong Kong in the good old days. McChystal was good, this guy was excellent.
