Invitation update: Edge Master Class at Cavallo Point, Sausalito, Sept 26-28
Jeffrey,
Not to be missed. Seriously. One of two hot projects for September. Second invitation later. Could use some help. At farm, check in over the weekend:
The EDGE Master Class on art for the weekend of September 26-28th is coming together. I am pleased to invite you to attend as a guest of EDGE. As with all EDGE events, there are no charges other than taking care of your hotel reservation. The event will be held at Cavallo Point, a high-end resort, 21 miles from SFO in Fort Baker, near Sausalito, California and just across the Golden Gate Bridge from San Francisco. See: http://www.cavallopoint.com/.
The class will be led by Hans Ulrich Obrist (aka "HUO"), co-director of London's Serpentine Gallery in Hyde Park, who, in 2009, was ranked #1 in the annual "Power 100" list by ART REVIEW Magazine of the most powerful people in the art world. (He was ranked #2 in 2010, #2 in 2011, #10 in 2012, and #5 in 2013). He's considered to be the world's most influential modern art curator, and certainly "the" most connected person in the contemporary art world. The Serpentine, which just brought on Michael Bloomberg as Board Chairman, is the center of London's cultural scene.
A number of artists and/architects will accompany HUO. The first to confirm is the one at the very top of my list: Marina Abramovic. the #1 performance artist in the world ("the performance queen") has confirmed that she will attend. Do not miss this! I know you are busy. Get unbusy. Repeat: Do not miss this!!

"512 Hours", Abramovic's current performance piece, is running in London through August 25th at The Serpentine Gallery http://bit.ly/1sJp0eZ.
HUO has also invited the artists John Baldessari, Jeff Koons, Philippe Parreno and Taryn Simon, and architects Frank Gehry, Rem Koolhas, among others. I will send updates as we get responses.
In the 21st century," HUO writes, "Silicon Valley could become the home of an ambitious institution, an art centre which can build bridges between art and technology. Today, information and communications technology are the world's key growth industries. Now, then, is the time for art to take its rightful place at the heart of the philanthropy of today's digital visionaries and it's the time for digital visionaries to become part of art history."

I have already heard from a few of usual West Coast EDGIES. Confirmed to date: Tony Fadell, Evan Williams, Dave Morin. Nick Pritzker is a "possible".
I very much hope you can make it. If so, you need to let me know by August 29th in order to secure the necessary number of hotel rooms (see preliminary information below).
I look forward to hearing from you.
Best,
JB
