From Known to New
Neuroscience, Creativity, and Innovation
Gino Yu, Giuseppi Bersani, Ornella Corazza
Havana, Cuba
April 18-20, 2017
Background
The Neupsyco Congresses organized by the Cuban Neuroscience Center, the Cuban Society of Psychaitry, and the Association MIND — Education and Research in Neuroscience and Medicine in conjunction with the Sapienza University in Rome and the Italian Society of Psychiatry, was established in 2013 and has run three editions in 2013, 2014, and 2015. The event bring together delegates from worldwide to promote advanced and high level scientific exchange, with the objective of creating an annual international meeting of clinicians and researchers in all fields of neurosciences.
The scientific sessions and exhibition areas provide suitable sites for the discussion of issues related to the scientific program, cooperation projects, and commercial developments, with the participation of clinicians, professors, researchers, health professionals and entrepreneurs from Northern and Latin America, Asia and Europe.
For the 2017 edition, Dr. Gino Yu was invited to get involved with the event. Dr. Yu has hosted the Toward a Science of Consciousenss Conference in 2009, and will host the new version, The Science of Consciousness, also in 2017. He also founded and ran the Asia Consciousenss Festival (http://imprint.co.uk/pdf/Gino.pdf) and is a pioneer of the TranTech movement (http://transtech200.com/).
Combined with other gatherings in Europe and Asia, Neupsyco provides an excellent platform for developing a community of international researchers focused upon understanding the relationship between mind and body. It was decided that the event would take a unique approach to mind-body understanding and also leverage the unique opportunities in the host country of Cuba by focusing on creativity and innovation rather than mental disorders. Hence, the title “From Known to New.” The event can serve accelerate the creative and innovation industries by applying a science-based methodology for investigation and inquiry into creative processes and innovation. Such a program would stimulate new lines of inquiry and promoting cross-disciplinary collaboration. The event would also serve as a catalyst for the development and commercialization of new products and services arising from these collaborations.
Dear Gino,
Fantastic title!
I will contribute to mix my previous general presentation with all your suggestions.
Prof. Peter Valdes-Sosa must co-chair the congress with us. Please send me your final idea and I will work at it soon. I will keep you informed about the confirmation of the dates. I understand November is a good time for you.
Let's keep in touch!
And my best wishes for Christmas and New Year.
Giuseppe
i still prefer May, but if not, Nov ok with me.
Dear Gino,
some possible participants to our event in La Habana suggested me to anticipate the dates to November 6-7, to avoid overlapping with the Neuroscience 2016 Annual Meeting in Washington, November 11-15.
I have still to check the room availability in the congress palace, but I want to know before if the new dates can be a problem for you or for your sponsor. In this case we can confirm the days of 13-14.
Please let me know your opinion and which type of sponsor you think to involve, so to be able to start to prepare an adequate preliminary program and list of participants.
Many thanks for your precious help, I look forward to hearing from you soon,
warm wishes,
Giuseppe
I have the 20K you asked for. Once we have a plan, we can explore other sources. They are introducing Alex Castro to me (Fidel's son).
Right now I am at this which we organized and will also do something around the time of our conference in Nov: http://www.yhwfest.com.

Dear Gino,
I enclose a brief advanced draft of the project. Please feel free to make remarks, suggestions and changes, all welcome. It is just a preliminary worksheet. You can see I left some reference to "mental disorders/psychiatry/clinical neuroscience"/ecc., since I think it can enlarge the number of participants. But check the preliminary list of topics and change it as you think better.
When we will have a shared draft, I will submit it as advanced to Prof. Valdes-Sosa and then we can start with selection of speakers, announcement, sponsor recruitment, diffusion, organizative actions, etc. Mind and Solymed can take care of every organizative and administrative issues. I am sure we are working at something great! Looking to hearing from you, many thanks, Giuseppe
Hi Giuseppi,
I've cc'd my benefactor, Jeffrey Epstein. He can make arrangements on the transfer of funds for the Conference.
Jeffrey is also really well connected and can bring significant relationships to make this an amazing event.

Hi Giuseppi,
I'm still in Hong Kong. Any chance of coming down to Hong Kong?
My benefactor approved 25K. Am working out the contact for the transfer. I still owe you a writeup on the agenda.
Basically:
Focus on creativity and innovation. Would like to get people in this space to talk about it, as well as practices. This is good to attract people in business and corporate for future sponsorship. For example, this group is quite successful: https://neuroleadership.com/. There are some artists and hyper creatives we can also get to talk about the experience and explore study methodologies. Would be great if we could get Rex Jung - http://www.apa.org/research/action/speaking-of-psychology/neuroscience-creativity.aspx
Studying people that have special abilities (synesthesia, empaths, etc.). I know a few and work with people like this: http://www.paulselig.com/. This is more parapsychology, but also relates to intuition and insight. Different forms of knowing.
