HI JEE...
I believe in ESP; I don't care what the studies show...
You've been on my mind a lot lately, especially these last
few days when I've been in Paris. (I'm getting an honorary
doctorate from the Sorbonne, tomorrow.)
When I'm in California, which is usually these days, I've settled into a routine where we (Robin and I) go to an apartment we've rented in SF Friday afternoon, back to SU late Sunday night or early Monday morning. I'm generally hanging out in the mornings on the weekend, so no reason we can't call (or Skype, if you prefer). My cell phone is no
I have no idea whether I've made a big mistake in taking this job. You would love it, but I'm less interested in talking to smart people. So far, two deans from HU have visited me and told me that they want me back, and one of the members of the Board of Overseers told me that Drew had told him to tell me that I would be welcome back any time. This is all very flattering. I do feel "appreciated" by Stanford, but its just not in the same league as HU, I regret to report. Maybe the weather? Not sure. In any case, I'm just now putting in to have a program in the new branch campus in NYC, assuming that Bloomberg does the rational thing and selects SU. If all goes well, I'll spend a week a month in NYC.
Enough rambling. How you? On a five point scale, where 1 is miserable and 5 is ecstatic, where would you pleace yourself?
Thanks for the note. I miss talking to you, too.. I'm back on Friday. Let's chat over the weekend (no early than 12:30 your time, please... ).
I hope all's well!!

How late? (I'm with Robin; we are about to have dinner with the Pres of the
Sorbonne.)

This thing will drag on four hours. You up for lunch tomorrow? Noon, their
time?

Great! Where?

OK. I can leave the Sorbonne @ 12:00 but must be back here @ 2:00 sharp ( or they will kill me, I have just been told). You want to meet in the Latin Quarter?
Sent from my phone, so please forgive the brevity!
They are fanatic about my being at the Sorbonne at 2:00 sharp. We could meet at 6:15, for an hour or so. Would that work?
