Re: Questions from TNT
my money comes from being wrong a great deal of the time but being right more often than wrong. Luck plays a substantial role. Creating money instead of making it, though it sounds woo-woo. Very few people study money, they study finance. - NOT THE SAME. what is money. where does it come from. can you have more debt than you have money. (no. money is an IOU). creating it?! how. I bought property in europe two months ago. nothing happened to the price. however the conversion of dollars to euro went from 108 - 118. I did nothing. no one built anything. sold anything. produced anything, but when converting the currency back to dollars I had more money than I started with. silly but true
My funding has zero to do with monetization. String theory, esoteric mathematics ie topology, algebraic geometry, zero dollar potentials. Work on the Brain, Deception, Music, and the constancy of the Power Laws seem to be nature secrets. discovering those secrets is the drive.
Funding more science is not as important in my view, as funding the right people. There is not a lot of money needed. to turn coffee and graphite into new ideas
science is political but also has the potential to be politically incorrect. Mathematics less so. Few people get upset when you say that all numbers have not been created equal. :)
super cool. if you keep 1 science exciting what would it be?
Jeffrey, I think i'll be cool to have a book made as interviews with you. Super simple to produce and would be fun to read
Here's the questions from TNW (they have 13M monthly readers). The more details you give the better.
Please try to respond on the next 48 hours.
-Very basic: where does your money come from?
-To what degree does a research project's potential for monetization guide your funding decisions?
-How else can someone push back against an anti-science president besides funding more science?
-Why is science political? Or is it? Set me straight here.
