transsexuality in rodents

just realized that transsexuality—not transvestism—is common in some mammals

in rodents such as lemmings, X'? males develop as full females, only problem is that mating with full males (XY). 1/4 of their progeny are `Of—lacking an X entirely they die early in uterine life

but because they are lost so quickly the mother can easily replace them with very young embryos which quickly causes X* to 'drive'—that is, replicate faster than X, hence you end up with males (XY), classical females (XX) and then transsexuals (XsY)

i have known about this for years (Burt and Trivers 2006) and more bizarre cases still— XY*, much harder to see how they thrive

so this is a deeper slant to transsexuality—God knows without any human psycho-sexual content but gratifying for me— a larger canvas on which to paint the full argument, when i am ready to paint
