The Meatpacking district is filled with contradictions.

First it was Jeffrey that had the limos parking next to the meat trucks. Then the opening of places like Pastis and APT brought down the bankers dressed in Armani. Now the hard-core shoppers run from Stella McCartney's new shop to Dernier Cri. Starbucks is taking over. The place is a friggin' mess. But, did you know that just around the corner a bevy of laid-back surfers are hiding out, scouting for equipment?

Hold on. Did someone say buff, tanned hotties? In this hood?

Indeed we did. At the newly opened surf shop Nalunyc. The 700-square-foot space is filled with surfboards, wet suits, bad-ass swimsuits, beach towels, and comfy pants.

So if you're looking for the Gucci surfboard, you're in the wrong place. As for shop owner Sarg, an avid surfer and city dweller, his shop couldn't be in a more perfect one.

Leaving us with only one question: Where's the beef?
