We decided to do a home birth. I was sick of hospitals with crappy protocols and doctors who didn't know why the protocols were there. We found two great midwives so decided to do a home birth. Most of the problems can be determined in early labor by watching vitals and the ultrasound.
Anyway, we ended up on a weird edge case where the baby went front to back (OP) and ended up creating a very strong but hard to diagnose pain for Mizuka that made it unable for her to "push through" the pain in labor. We tried all kinds of tricks and stuff until Mizuka's pain became unbearable and was losing her energy about 12 hours into her labor and ended up in a hospital. The reason that we went to the hospital is because Mizuka was being overwhelmed with the pain. When we got to the hospital it took hours for them to figure out the anesthesia so it was about 16 hours before she was stabilized and gave birth. Luckily she had enough energy left to push enough to do a forceps vaginal delivery instead of c-section. So we're in the hospital now.
So it was a weird edge case, but Mizuka's already forgotten the pain (I remember it!) and she's thinking about it the next kid. ;-)
Otherwise, baby is healthy. We're calling her | We thought about Jeffrina, but thought it sounded too Western.

PSI think they all sort of look about the same at this age but...
