You can purchase yourself a subway card from a machine located at any subway station (Or from an attendant behind the window down in the station). There is a subway station at Lexington and 68th street.

Hello Lesley I just went outside to look for a mobil shop, like i told you I think it will be easier and less expensive if I buy a new phone with an american sim card prepayed
But i couldnt find a mobil shop maybe you could help me on this.
