Chris requested that I rent a backhoe with the hammer attachment so he can begin the prep work for the 50 palm plantings at the berm.
Grade-All has the equipment with the operator available starting Wednesday, 9/18 to Friday, 9/27. The equipment will remain on LSJE over the weekend, at no cost.
The estimated cost is 7 days X 8 hrs/day X $130/hr = $7,280
This week I will be contacting the company from whom we purchased the JD 310J backhoe to obtain a quote for the purchase of a hammer attachment, as per your directive to purchase one for LSJE.

I called the owner regarding your offer of $5K flat for the rental. Eric explained that he is pulling the equipment off of another job to accommodate us, and losing the 2 weekend days (approximately $2,080) by allowing the equipment to stay on LSJE so our project is not slowed down by having to bring the equipment back and forth. He says he cannot go any lower.
I have previously researched other companies for equipment rentals - availability, costs, quality of work, willing to work "off-island", etc. The other companies were competitive in price, until I explained to them the location of the job, and the mobilization costs made them higher than Grade-All.

I have a call in to Jimmy to confirm that he will not need a hammer for the pool project. My understanding was we would use the LSJE equipment to first remove the sod, and then remove soil and level the area until it is 6 inches lower than the present tile level.
Regarding the Swing Project, Roy says a rock hammer is needed to complete placing the swing at the kite house. He said that you were to advise the location.
I wanted to take advantage of the hammer being on site to take care of that project as well.
I will call Eric now and confirm the backhoe with the hammer attachment for 9/18-9/20.
