I put together the following table. Here's what I think about his grieving.

Shock & Denial	2 weeks	24 days	Trip in Africa — prolonged since media distance and time zone made him more communicative with work colleagues
Pain & Guilt	2 months	(ongoing) 26 days to date	Due to self-sacrificing nature, guilt for "desertion" of colleagues is likely to overlap for 2-3 additional months; evil media likely to still be at a peak
Anger & Bargaining	2 months		legal battles likely to culminate here
Depression, Reflection, loneliness	3 months		My new role likely to be in the early "honeymoon" stages, jealousy and comparison expected; will be finishing up term at Harvard
The Upward Turn	2 weeks		Summer optimism; likely to be near draft completion of a book
Reconstruction	2 months		Will have completed Harvard; Ballmer's implosion will likely be at fever pitch
Acceptance & Hope	2 months		If not fully entrenched into new role, will be near
