What about a statement along the following lines:

I was completely misquoted in the Daily Telegraph and other media outlets.

Jeffrey committed what was a crime in the State of Florida.

While certainly not condoning his actions for which he has served his time, the fact that he would not have been guilty of a criminal offence in the UK should serve to keep his record, and the totally distorted press headlines, in context.

Dear James, may I introduce you to Jeffrey Epstein. I had a talk to Jeffrey on Easter Sunday night his time in the USA. I think he is 5 or 6 hours behind UK.

After I hung up from our call with Geordie. Beatrice and I had a discussion and we agreed it was important to call Geordie back and make sure he understood the severity of NOT making a mistake and getting it wrong about Jeffrey, because he was sent to prison for sexual offending, but that he had done his penance and was out of jail and moving on with his life. And Geordie was NOT in any way to go down the P. route. I duly did the call, and Lee Ashley Johnson was also witness to that call as well as Beatrice.

I did say that I would pay the 22k back to Jeffrey.

Jeffrey, James Henderson, has helped me with my press since last year's nightmare. He has done this as a friend.

I hope we can calm all this down, Jeffrey tells me he is getting Death threats and a 200 strong women's forum lead by Tina Brown, has done massive damage to him, and he has lost 50 million dollars through 2 X 25 million dollar deals moving away. Allegedly because I said Jeffrey was a P. And I did NOT. I would NOT.

Although I had to protect my own brand in the statement I did with Geordie, which is all in children's work, I certainly would not want to hurt Jeffrey anymore, by saying such an untruth.

I would like to find a way, that the newspapers in the USA, and all over the world, that say I said something which I did not, about Jeffrey, could be asked to apologise for misrepresenting Jeffrey and Myself.

I would recommend we ask her to issue the statement before she goes on television and then she can amplify it on N.

No problem with these suggestions. We need to strike a balance between what the D of Y can be persuaded to say on the one hand, while on the other hand maintaining her credibility in making the statement. The difficulty is that if she goes too far, the press will be all over her like a rash and her attempt at setting the record straight will be counter productive.

Obviously if she can be persuaded to make a public statement, then that would be ideal. However, as you have already intimated, I think this is unlikely. A compromise would be for her to forward a letter to Jeffrey covering the points in the proposed press statement, which we can forward to the Telegraph and the Mail in support of our direct claims against them for distorting the facts and breaching Jeffrey's privacy/confidentiality. The letter might be enough to wobble them, although there is always the risk that they may simply use this as a basis to "bash Fergie". However, I believe that this is probably a risk worth taking.

It would be far more preferable for her to make the statement, and then we can come in behind it stepping up the pressure on the Telegraph...

I like the idea of the letter as a fallback and, she might be willing to go further in the letter. Question is, could we leak or release it?

The idea would be to not only disclose the letter to the Telegraph, but also to release the letter with an appropriate press release at the appropriate stage.

While I anticipate that she will resist the latter course of action, I think this should be easier for her in that it will avoid her having to eat humble pie herself.

Obviously, the preferred option would be for her to release the press statement herself, but I think this is unlikely.
