Hi Soon-Yi,

Tomorrow, we will have lunch at Sophie Dumesnil's house, a very good friend of the Lang family. Amongst the people attending will be also present Josiane Balasko.

Josiane is one of the most popular French actress' literally and quite close to people, on one hand for being a director and an actress, and on the other hand for her active political involvement in social issues. In fact, she is the only actress in France battling for immigrants and homeless people. Anti pin-up, she was part of great popular comedy films which generated millions of viewers.

Here are two of her great successful movies with more than 10 million viewers:

• Les Bronzes Font Du Ski (1979)
• Le Pere Noel Est Une Ordure (1982)

These films get the best audience on each television broadcast even today. People know by heart the lines of some her films.

Josiane makes comedy films on important social subjects: "Les Keufs" (1987) [on suburbs], "Gazon Maudit" (1995) [on lesbian couples].

She has just directed her own movie which shall be released soon and in which she is the lead role. She is a loved actress, a simple very straightforward person. She is a role model to women for her strength of character and independence.

Josiane Balasko is married since 10 years to an Indian Apache actor from Michigan.
