Dear Jeffrey
There is no clear direction or guidance on a de pegging of the Dirham. Recent articles point to the fact that a de peg alone will not resolve the UAE's or the GCC's inflationary issues, with Kuwait being a case in hand. If the intent is to make a play, then one option, subject to trading levels, would be to buy back part or all of Dubai World Jafza's AED 7.5 billion Sukuk(bond). Separately, Abu Dhabi is also understood to be looking at an AED issue. Alternatively and likely a quicker entry point would be to enter into a series of private placements with a number of key parties.
Investment Office Of Dubai would potentially be interested, at the right price and size
