Attached is an invitation to a small event that Tony & Shelly Malkin and Sandi and  I have planned for 1/29/08.  It will only take an hour.  Sandi and I have been very involved in the promotion of stem cell medical research for some time now.  It is my fervent belief that this particular body of science has amongst the highest probabilities of delivering actual cures, in our lifetime, for many of the most difficult diseases in the world.  Because there is an absolute prohibition on government funding, this promising technology must rely solely on the vision and commitment of private individuals. 

 

While Sandi and I have made the Harvard Stem Cell institue, its director Dr. Doug Melton and their work our single highest philanthropic priority, it does not mean that you will.  I ask only that you take an hour to listen to what it is that is being done at Harvard and what advancements have been made and continue to be made regularly.  We will solicit no money at this event; just have a drink with us and listen for 30 minutes to what is possible with this science and where it is leading.  It would mean a great deal to me.  I suspect it may mean a great deal to you too.  Please RSVP to david Dowling at ddowling @islecap.com or 212-705-5010.  Thanks.
