Lesley, thanks for arranging the conference call with Mr. Epstein yesterday. There are a couple of items from that call I need some help with.
- Mr. Epstein would like me to coordinate with Doug Shuttle (spelling?), his Architect, as we move forward.
- I need a site survey, preferably in AutoCAD, for the specific site where he would like the screening room to be located. I also need some site photographs of the area.
- Please let me know if there is a specific project name Mr. Epstein would like this to be called, for drawing purposes. It could be "St. Thomas Screening Room", or "Epstein Screening Room", but clients often have a specific preference for naming.
Below are some of my notes from the call. Please share them with Mr. Epstein and Mr. Shuttle, and let me know if they have any other thoughts.
- Increase the screen size to 40'. (Paramount screening room has a 55' x 28' screen, with 528 seats.)
- Plan for 10-12 beds, fully-automated, to be adjustable from a sitting to a laying-down position, and 1 row of seats across the back. Seating areas may be tiered.
- Add a restroom.
- The screening room will be used for movies only.
- The primary format will be DVD. Make some provisions for satellite, although the signal strength varies.
- The design should not be themed. The building and lobby design may have a slight tropical feel, but not obvious or over-the-top. The screening room should have no visual distractions.
- Room size and proportions should be ideal for a studio-quality screening room. Best sound and projection. Fully-digital systems.
- We will need to coordinate with Mr. Shuttle on the logistics of construction on the island (permitting and approvals, etc.).
We will issue a revised plan and section by Monday, and will continue on the overall conceptual package. We need that site plan background as soon as possible.
Thanks,
Warwick
