Re: Pro Mar Services, Inc. Survey

I spoke to Mark at Pro Mar Services who told me or confirmed the following relevant information:

 

1.    Pro Mar is not a marine surveyor; "its in the piling business"

 

2.    The tide information was for Benner Bay and Dohm's marina is in Jessup Bay; Mark claims that no tide information is available for Jessup bay.  Mark said there is very little tidal activity in the area anyway, so Mark believes the tidal info its probably not all that relevant.

 

3.    Mark claims that he took the readings at Zero tide, but when I asked him how he knows it was zero tide, he told me he would have to use tide scales.  When I reminded him that there is no tidal info for Jessup bay, he told me that there is probably no difference in height of tides between Benner and Jessup and only a matter of 30 minutes or so with respect to high and low tides.

 

4.    His physical survey was minimal, he simply looked at the dock.  He noted his belief the the light structure of the dock makes it suitable for light boats only and if you were to moor regular 40 to 50 foot boats you would need a different structure.

 

5.    When I asked Mark how he knew what condition the pilings were in, he told me that the operator of the dock told him that pilings were replaced a few years back.  Moreover, Mark told me that the pilings are not driven into the sea bed; instead, the pilings are "Jetted in" with water.

 

6.    No evaluation of the floating office or the materials on the sea bed to which the floating office is moored.  Mark's only comment was that the "office" was not much of anything and would be probably safer to get rid of it.

 

Conclusion: Rather than get a full survey of the marina as I asked him to, it appears John had one of his cronies drop depth lines to measure depth.and simply give a cursory look at the condition of the marina.  John knew that this was for a potential acquisition.
