Subject: Crimson Article: Trivers IncidentDear Professor Kosslyn,
My name is Christian Flow, and I am writing an article about an
incident that occurred at the Program for Evolutionary Dynamics in
May. Apparently, biologist Robert Trivers was to speak in
celebration of an international award he had recently won, but was
informed by PED Director Martin Nowak hours before the time of the
lecture that his speaking date had been canceled. When he pressed
Nowak on the details of the decision, Trivers said, Nowak told him
that he was sworn to secrecy.
Trivers went on to state that he believes the cancellation of the
speech came as a result of criticisms of Professor Dershowitz that
he had published in the Wall Street Journal and addressed to the
professor himself. He said that he thought Dershowitz's
relationship with benefactor Jeffrey Epstein, from whom Nowak
receives his research money, is responsible for the decision to
cancel. The reason I am writing you is because I know that you are
familiar with both Epstein and Dershowitz, and I was wondering if
you knew anything of this episode. Do you have any knowledge of
whether the influence of Dershowitz or Epstein played a role in the
last-minute decree that Trivers would not be speaking?Any information you could offer would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks so much for your time,
Christian Flow
