The first step in selecting something to send you posed a deep quandary

• but "fate" helped. An item that is both very old and very new just
  came back to me from the editors with a few suggestions. I forward it as
  an attachment - as is, before a few final fixes.

If I seem to be late in responding, it is because of a sudden pressure.
Publishers of a book I have long been working on - and of a proposed
translation of that book - have suddenly decided to have it out for my
85th birthday, one that is scheduled for November 20, 2008. Tight, but I
think I will be done.
