Larry Moses contacted Peg to advise her that he
received the attached
e-mails regarding Barak's completion of summary
treatments for each of his two
books and the request for payment pursuant to the
Book Agreement with TWF as a
result of completing the summary treatments. Moses
advises that he was not
involved in "developing" the book deal and asked Peg
if she could find out how
Moses should proceed with respect to Barak's request
for Payment. Peg in turn
has asked for our guidance and direction.

I was involved in the negotiation and execution of
the document, but have
not been involved in overseeing performance.

Section 6(b) of the Book Agreement with Barak
provides that in respect of
each book being written by Barak pursuant to the
agreement, upon receipt from
Barak of a summary treatment for each of the
chapters of such book, TWF is to
pay Barak $100,000.

Obviously, I know nothing of what Barak actually
sent to TWF; I only have
the attached e-mail (without attachments) in which
Barak indicates that he is
attaching summary treatments for each of the
Leadership Book and the Middle
East Book. If it is true that summary treatments
for each chapter in these two
books have been received by TWF, then it would
appear, pursuant to section
6(b) of the Book Agreement, that a payment of
$100,000 for each of the two
books is now due.

Please advise what you want Peg to tell Larry Moses.

Dear Peg:

Ms. Nili Priell has represented Mr. Barak in most
of their correspondence
to the Foundation. Below, please find a recent
communication, and still
further below a more extensive update that we
received at the end of October.

Because I was not involved in developing the
arrangement with Mr. Barak, I
do not know how to respond to the recent request
that indicates a payment
is due per a contract between the parties.

Perhaps you could discover how we need to proceed.

Hectic times in the Israeli politics not a minute
of quiet. I am sure you
are all up to-date, but I don't know how the whole
picture is reflected so
many miles away&. Anyhow, Ehud is giving a real
fight, mainly trying to
bring ethics and values, common sense and direction
to a field that is led
by different incentives&.

If Les and Abigail wish to learn and hear more
about it, from first
source, please fix a telephone conversation
appointment and Ehud will be
glad to give them his point of view and insight.

Concerning the books according to the contract,
there is a payment to be

Per paragraph 4 (b) (ii) of our contract of May
2004 attached you will
find a summary treatment of the two books: the
Leadership Book and the
Middle-East book.

In the Leadership Book chapter 12 will be written
only after I interview
my American strategic advisers. It might take
several more weeks.

The two closing chapters (18, 19) will be written
by me only during the
final draft of the full book.

Regarding the Middle East book, you will find
attached the summary
treatment of the chapters within a new concept,
which I hope you will find
agreeable.

Following discussions with many potential readers
and high level future
commentators on the book, I decided it will be
better to wrap it under the
title of my experience of the Middle East conflict
as Prime Minister of
Israel, as it is still fresh on the mindset of the
readers. This structure
will enable me to cover other parts of my past
experience with the
Middle-East conflict, as a soldier, Head of
Intelligence and Chief of the
General Staff, as well as Foreign Minister in the
form of flashbacks that
will be implanted in the right points within the
new version.
