I just got back from Davos and spent a day in Lausanne at EPFL with
Henry
Markram, Director of the Blue Brain Project (cover of the latest Seed).
We
were pitching PLA.NET (our new technology platform for research
scientists)
to Henry, it went very well, and Blue Brain will now be an initial test
client. Separately, we discussed Henry's fundraising activities for the
project. In a nutshell, this is the next Human Genome Project -- a
massive,
global undertaking to build a brain using supercomputers. IBM is heavily
invested in the project. And Henry is one of the most impressive
scientists
I have ever met. Henry is meeting with potential donors around the
world. He
is coming to New York on Feb 18 and I am putting together a dinner and
some
meetings for him. Would you be interested in meeting him?

I'll be in NYC from late Thursday, 4-10 to early evening 4-15. I am
free to meet at hese times: Monday outside of 11:30-1:30 lunch; Tuesday
morning to finish by 11 a.m. and Tuesday afternoon from 2 until I have
to get to JFK at 5:20 for a flight an hour later. I'd love to discuss
theoretical and computational neuroscience more, and follow up on your
meeting with Jonathan Victor.

Also, I'll be with my new sweetie Cheryl on Monday until she departs
from JFK at 6:30. I think she'd be fun for you to banter with for a few
