To reiterate our conversation of this morning, the
following agencies have
committed to the coalition and will or have submit
their dues(ours is
$7,500.00): IMG, FORD, NEXT, WOMEN, Q, TRUMP, NY/LA
MODELS, MAJOR, ONE, and
most probably Elite. Other agencies from other
parts of the country are
being approached as well. Eric Bland is
spearheading the coalition, thanks
to his efforts last year Congressman Weiner
introduced bill# HR 4354. I
understand Senators Schumer and Kennedy have been
approached. Time is
critical, there is immigration legislation coming
up for a vote that HR#
4354 can be attached to. I believe we should be a
part of the machinations
that will benefit our industry.

Jean Luc and Jeff,

I participated in an hour long conference call
yesterday at 2PM
discussing

bill# HR 4354 which was introduced by Congressman
Weiner (last year) -
the

first step to trying to remove fashion models
from the H1B status and

putting them in their own category. (Jeff, if you
remember, Congressman

Weiner ran for Mayor - I attended a fundraiser
for him last summer, as a

result he created this legislation.)
Requirements would be the same,

filing
fees would be reduced and most importantly not
subject to the cap. This

legislation has to be lobbied, to put it simply -
hence reason for the

call.
There is currently an immigration bill about to
be voted on, and the

strategy being taken is to form a coalition of
agencies, hire this

lobbyist,
who will work diligently to get HR4354 attached
to it so that it can be

voted upon. There are many facets to lobbying
legislation and it takes

time.
It may not be successful on the first attempt but
the information is out

there, make it national. It is not a
controversial bill but if it doesn't

get passed, we would try again and keep lobbying.
In my personal

experience, for my CO-OP, our association hired a
lobbyist and it took

close
to two years to get the bill passed, but we got
it. All the major
agencies

throughout the country are participating. Eric
Bland would be
spearheading

the effort, heading the coalition. We as agencies
would reach out to as

many
people as we know that can help us get the
attention of our public

officials
to help with this effort. I.e. if anyone knows
who Congressman Hofstetler

who is the Chairman of the Immigration Committee,
or anyone who knows

Senator Schumer who is also on the Judiciary
Committee.

to save up to $20,000.00 on those 10 applications
alone. Obviously, the

more
applications a particular company submits, the
greater the savings. It

without saying that the benefit of a successful
effort clearly outweighs
