RE:
At the beginning of 2007 we
compiled lists of possible pool consultants, the lead of which was the
contractor that installed the pool at Yacht Haven: Certified Pools out of
Florida, whose contact person is Harry Kashner. Kashner at the time was also
consulting with Manhattan at Botany Bay before they were eliminated as
contractors there. This company consulted with us and the designers on the
features of the pool which was originally designed for the office structure.
We simultaneously identified
Pool Works and Sea Scape here as possibilities. Kashner was chosen, however,
due to the Yacht Haven connection and a skill set stateside which could be
imported here for a very high end application. Fountains and other more
elaborate structures were also in their resume which made them even more
appropriate. You will recall that your original main house design for the
location where the library is now going at the time had a very large two story
fountain-waterfall in it and you have had fountains under consideration from
time to time for the existing compound.
We ended up in Florida because
pool contracting here, generally, is not done by one, exclusive source.
Typically, with the advice of a consultant the pool is cast by a competent
concrete contractor and then aerated and finished under the direction of a
specialist.
When the pool was removed from
the office and the main house plans changed we did not continue to be in
contact with all these sources. Construction has slowed down here considerably
and players come and go all the time. Accordingly, there is a need to fish the
local market again in response to your request and to get current, reliable
information about local contractors. We have continued to be in contact
with Certified Pools, whose owner has visited our offices here to solicit
business. They will be on the list as well. We should be able to give you
a thoughtful and constructive response in two or three days.

Vivien Gerena, the project
manager at ACOE was out all last week. I am calling her shortly to arrange to
meet her as soon as possible tomorrow or Wednesday. At the same time I am
trying to coordinate this visit with a site review of one of the two
pre-casting operations I know of in PR, as you requested. I will go to
ACOE no matter what happens on the pre-casting front.
