Hey JE!
I'm trying to conform with normalcy, if there is such thing in Dubai, wondering if it's the right thing for me. I'm used to the drama.
I hope this finds you well.
Much love,
Cecilia
Dubai Diary:
Good news is, the lung infection is gone and I'm down to a respiratory inflammation. Things are looking up! 5 weeks of sickness has drained my body of all energy, though.
Respiratory inflammation & Drugs in Dubai:
I think my lung infection kept me out of trouble at my new job. It prevented me from speaking more than 3 words at a time. Everyone thinks I'm a really quiet, calm, nice girl. Little do they know that I'm very annoying most of the time.
I didn't realize how dangerous my lung infection was until everyone and their mother started calling to see if I was hospitalized.
After the email to my boss explaining I'm close to pneumonia and one breath away from injections, the A/C above my head got shut off real quick.
Everyone seems to be getting sick: my colleagues, the aspiring boyfriend... of course they're all blaming me. Oh stop! Pneumonia isn't contagious!
The inhaler I'm using for the respiratory inflammation is really strong stuff for asthma. The doctor put me on the highest dosage.
I'm also on another medicine for ulcers since all the medicine I've been taking has been an abuse of the stomach.
I thought they drugged you in the U.S., but forget the U.S.! In Dubai they'll put you on drugs the Americans haven't even heard of!
Dating & Work:
It's always good to have the "futures" talk with even aspiring boyfriends. I think my aspiring boyfriend wants to have kids and stuff in the future. Not that I'm sure of what it is, but I don't think the Armani store is selling it...
I'm very happy at work. MAC is structured which is unheard of in Dubai. The 2 negatives is that it pays shit and it's admin investment banking. Copy, paste, email. Not at all as quantitative as my previous jobs. I would've liked to analyze some sort of numbers.
My colleague went to Sweden on business trip and was supposed to bring me back candy, BILAR. He managed to fail at this simple task and instead brought me back Austrian chocolate. OK, thanks... it's almost the same thing...
I think he did it on purpose because I said his Jeep SUCKED and I didn't want to be seen in it.
Miscellaneous:
I found it strange that I never received any bills for cable or credit card. Turns out my bills have been going to my old job address! Oh goodie.
Have I been so busy that I missed the Oscars???
+30 C (86 F) and I think it's too cold to wear skirts. I've see some crazyass tourists in shortsleave and shorts!
I'm awake at 4am because a man in my life are pissing me off. Anyway, looking out my panoramic living room window from the 21st floor, I have a great view of Sheikh Zayed Road and Dubai Marina. I gotta tell you, kids, the lifestyle here is second to none!
Two people are leaving MAC to go to Thailand and Singapore. That's Dubai. Very high turnover.
Meeting up with a Russian girlfriend only to be scoulded for not dating a rich man.
Going to Hatta, Oman for visa run on Sunday. Told MAC i want my freaken residencey visa.
I hope you're all safe and well,
