Sarah, -
Going through my e-mails, not been on everyday , and feel so bad I didn't
respond to your last note to me - unlike MARCIA . Sorry. SORRY.
I have been on a whirlwind and just consumed with figuring things out and
tired of putting off the inevitable with my health, i.e.(back/spine) . I
am as tired of hearing about it as anybody else and just can't deal with it
anymore. Of all things, I am actually planning on my surgery. I only wish I
took Jeffrey's info. last year at this time to go to the CLeveland Clinic in
Ohio , but I NEVER, ever thought I could possibly think of doing this
extensive a spinal surgery far away from home. I tend to be an O-C-D
personality ; Oh well, so what , could be worse, but I like to be around my things,
my bed, my "stuff" my pillow, etc., as silly as that might sound. Truly
went to ST. LOUIS, MO (we know one lawyer and his wife there as it happens )
just to humor one of Bruce's friends from Law School who lives in Aspen, Lee
Pardee who was visiting with us for a few days . Coincidentally, Lee , has
a friend who went to this " well reknowned orthopedic surgeon " - Dr.
KEITH BRIDWELL - who totally re-did his recently done, unsuccessful spinal
surgery , Titanium rods and all , and Jimmy Trotter , raved about the Doctor
(not his personality, but his ability !! ) and MORE-SO about the facility
which is clean, and doesn't smell and people speak English and they are
efficient and organized , etc. Robotic , ; medically a positive, yes ?
We never intended to so much as consider this and all I worry about now are
the logistics, the distance , the travel (now that could be interesting ! or
painful - for sure scarey to me )
yet it appeared many people there to see him were from other states .
That's something i'll have to contend with , but I am nearly soooooooooo ready to
feel better and to start to have my regular life back. Figure I'll deal
with the other things, somehow. Other than that, anxious, yet, relieved. Need
to go beginning of April for the "PRE- OP" and after surgery about 3x
over the year. I'll make it, because , that's the way it is. What an
impressive surgeon and according to Lee and Jimmy the bigger problem in surgery now is
the high risk of awful infection in Hospitals and BARNES-JEWISH HOSPITAL
CENTER in Missouri has a high/ good rating . That is a big issue also on
how we made this monstrous decision. .
Anyhow , You, my Sarah , and I , will have to put off our SAKS shopping
spree and filling your Trish McEvoy carry case , because I thought we would do
it when we came in for the New YOrk meeting 1st week in May , but I will
still have to stay in MO. for about 5 days after surgery and Bruce will go on
to the NACDL meeting in NY without me (I am planning on having my massage
therapist come to stay with me in this hospital connected Hotel bcs. I am not
allowed to be alone yet ( (LEFCOURT has organized the big meeting and it
pisses me off that I have to miss it!! ) Anyway , you know I love N.Y. and
was hoping to see you and (my guy) JEFFREY.
Do me this, fill him in, I know he cares but is just preoccupied. Maybe he
can look up this Dr. .
JEE is unbelievably wise and I think will be as impressed - with the
exception of the distance .

I have so little knowledge of what is happening now as Bruce is a bit out
of the loop , but you know we talk about it still , and he can always call
our home for anything . Caring doesn't stop when you like people. Wish I
could do more for him and you,too.
How is your personal life ? Knew I could write to you (sorry for the
lengthy note...) NOW , please write back to me . I know Jeffrey can't deal with
e-mail chatter but this is the only way to communicate with you guys.
