Dear Darren:
The building managers of our NY offices – Jones LaSalle – have approached us requesting that we give back the smaller 4th floor space we have used as Rabbi Friedman’s library, and offering to discount what we would otherwise pay for that space if we kept it three more years, to term.
The building’s proposal is silly, but we seem to have some leverage now to negotiate an arrangement with the building that could save us considerable funds.
Alan Grossman, who as you recall negotiated the original lease on our behalf, has agreed to contact the building’s representatives to get an initial sense of how badly they want the space and how significant our leverage might be. I just spoke with Alan.
I told Alan that before we would make any move we would need to bring you into the discussion.
Just wanted to make sure you are aware of this. By the way, we do not need that 4th floor space and it would be good to be relieved of its cost.
