Note that when I originally told Amy to extend the
dock, she said that she
would talk to Jose Cedano about adding it to the COE
permit application.

Now it appears that Amy agrees with Bill that we
should wait until the
existing permit application gets approved. Are you
ok with this?

Note also that Amy intends to deal with your
concerns about the water piles
off the existing barge landing site by removing the
proposal to install the
water pilings. Do you think that there is a danger
that having told ACOE that
we would put the water piles in as a measure to
avoid prop scour and
turbidity, ACOE would now feel that these pilings
are necessary and would look
unfavorably on us for removing them from the plan?
May I ask Amy about this? Or
would you rather not give her any cause to
reevaluate this point, so that she
will work harder to defend not putting in the
pilings should ACOE make an
issue of it?

Note also that Bill McComb has asked if he may speak
with the contractors
you spoke with about the road from Amy's proposed
temporary landing site to get
an understanding of the contractor's ideas about the
road. What should I
tell Bill?

Please advise. Thanks.

Darren

Jose wants us to get in the info I discussed with
them on the island, the swim dock modifications, the
artificial reef substitution with the wave
dampeners, and the water justification. I can have
my stuff ready by the end of the week. The issue is
going to be how fast he will move. He is playing it
by ear right now with Vivian coming back. He is
going to ask to keep LSJ. She is not due back until
the 9th. And everyone at the office is questioning
if she is going to change her mind and not come back
at all. My best guess is that we are looking at
the end of January as the fastest response time for
a permit. And I agree strongly with you on lets get
what we have in first before we make any major
changes, especially since it will lift the
non-compliance and then we can move forward with
requesting the temporary landing, and the extension
of the existing dock to extend out to the existing
pilings. Give me a call in the morning before 10 if
you get a chance.

Amy

Regarding permits, we will need a CZM minor permit
for the proposed road. I will look at designing a
temporary road up to the construction site. We will
have to address erosion and sediment control for
both CZM and ACOE.

Darren, do you know who the contractors were? Was
it the Yacht Haven people? I would like to talk
with them regarding their ideas of a road up to the
site.

Amy, how long do you think it will be before we can
get permits for what is in to ACOE? I will work on
revising the swim dock drawing. Is that all that is
needed from me for the revised submittal. When do
you expect to have you stuff ready. If it isn't too
long, maybe we should wait and go in for a
modification after the present submittal is
approved. Timing will also depend on when the
construction for the new residence will start.

Subject: LSJ

I am having a fun time trying to get back and
forth to St. Thomas right now. So I have had to
postpone my dive over at LSJ until Wednesday. When
I called Jeffery to let him know, he said that he
had the contractors out there yesterday, and that
they like my landing site at the far end of the
beach much better because of the deeper water and
felt that they could easily bring a spud barge in
there as a temporary dock and that they could put a
temporary road up the hillside. F&W and the COE
also thought the deeper water was better.

Now the question comes how to we go about
permitting this. We are talking temporary, and
using a spud barge for the bridge between the barges
and shore which would be removed once it was no
longer needed and it could also be moved out in case
of storms as well.

If we go with this route, I would only install
bollards on the shore for the existing ramp and
forego any in water piles.

I will give you both a call in the morning so we
can develop a game plan to move forward.

Amy
