Re: responsibilities.
We have no communication at all for now with Alex or Jeff or anyone else in that office. That is critical.
Sloman has now communicated twice with me so the ball is in my court. But given the ongoing review, I don't think I want to respond at all yet until I get a sense of how much interaction we will be able to have with Mark's office.
For now, let's assume that what we want is a package of materials to send to Mark's deputy - and we should decide if we can improve on our big sugal presentation or not.
We also clearly will want a letter that points out carefully every sloman error in his letter. At some point, I will probably send that as a response.
The July 8 deadline is a little further away than would be ideal, but we have the opportunity now to decide if we should enter into a definitive state deal and then arrange to have that ratified in dc as closure. My instict is that doing so in next few weeks may serve us better than trying to drag out a dag review for several months.
We can never do better than a state resolution. So we should aim to achieve that sooner rather than later.
