Hi Lesley!
Any feedback from Mr E after my last phone
call?
I'm writing to invite Jeffrey and you to our Institute's Board
meeting/gala at the Faculty Club and Fogg Art Museum at Harvard on Monday Nov
6th - the info is attached in this pdf draft that is being circulated among our
Board members.
Attending the Board mtg would provide JE an inside
look into our Strategic Plan (though not commit him to joining the Board).
The other 3 events are fun-filled - I think he would especially enjoy hearing
and meeting Dr Krause: Bernie has done everything from play session guitar
for Berry Gordy in the early Motown days to replace Pete Seeger in the Weavers
to teach Brian Wilson how to use a Moog to record with George Harrison to score
over 100 Hollywood films (e.g., Apocalypse Now, Love Story) to get a
Bioacoustics PhD in his 40s, whereafter he built the world's largest archive of
natural soundscapes - about 10-20% of which are now
extinct!
Bernie's Program in Acoustic Ecology & Music Culture
is one of our 5 research divisions: Program in Auditory Neuroscience
(Siemens invited an Executive Summary this yr re: creating an AudNSci
Center); Program in Learning & Edutainment (Exec Summ of proposal to
revolutionize Tx of dyslexia in hands of Disney-Pixar thanks to Siemens
President); Program in Health & Medicine (Center proposal going to
Paul Allen via his oncologist in Seattle whose cancer ctr is part of a
multi-center clinical trial); & Program in Technology R&D, which
inegrates/develops all the Programs' R&D work with potential for-profit
spinoffs for the music, audio, hospital-bed, and other industries.
I'm
also attaching a Society for Neuroscience Press Release of new abstract out of
the Health & Medicine Program - out of 14,000+ abstracts published for this
month's annual meeting, the SFN's Education Director selected only 700 for
inclusion heir Press Book. (This one may be of particular interest to new
moms!)
Will call later today
(Tues).
Best,
Mark
