Subject: Bentley sound system
Jeffrey,
I listen to the Bentley system tonight, I feel there is to much bass frequency going to the midrange speakers in the rear door. The Subwoofer is not present with enough power, and Bruce Whitman's tech is trying to compensate for lack of subwoofer by sending the low frequency to the midrange speakers. Plus it sounds like a "HALL" or "concert" selection is playing giving a hollow sound to the speakers and not direct listening Imaging that is required.
If you remember the system I designed for your Gray Suburban when you lived in Columbus Ohio, you commented that it was the best you have heard, and sounded better than any house system. I tried to duplicate when I did your guard car system with Audio Advisors in PBI, which I thought came out quite well for $10,000.00 that included a DVD in your head rest also.
These systems have 3 components:
#1 being sperate amps to run Tweeter, Mids and Subwoofer,#2 EQ would be nice but not necessary, since the modern Alpine control heads give you selection and frequency to each speaker, so not to over load them and distort.
#3 The main sound that we are lacking is an overpowering Subwoofer presence to accompany the Mids and Tweeters in the door, which are doing a good job.
A sperate sub woofer speaker is required to be installed in truck that has to be ported to passenger cabin,1- 500watt min,,,for sub in a self contained box makes all the difference in the world, 300watt for mids / 300 watt for tweeters with a crossover. The problem will be located this box in Bentley truck, because the truck needs to function as a subwoofer compartment when closed and forces its air in passenger compartment.
ipod music is not the best audio source for listing for high fidelity compared to CD qualify music that is loaded on a dvd or CD. to much information is on these discs which gives your best audio file sound reproduction compared to compress file like MP3 installed on ipods,
That is why I am still hearing the hissing noise like a 33lp album needle playing when you use he Ipod.
This is totally my opinion and my be way off, I will consult with Nick and Chris since they installed my system in my suburban which blows the windows out with clarity also I will contact Michele Angelo from Ultasmith for his evaluation too.
your thoughts?
Larry V.
