Triumph pipes

When we changed the exhaust pipes, decades ago, we put on separate left and right pipes that did not have the balance pipe that connected the two sides in front of the engine.   The new pipes I put on (had them shipped over from England) have the balance pipe.  What a difference!     Since the cylinders fire alternately, the exhaust from each cylinder can now go through both pipes, relieving the ‘back pressure’ on the engine.    It is idling much better with that old distinct thump thump thump sound, and runs smoother at speed.             Better than new!!!
