With the anonymity the Internet provides we can imagine all sorts of strange scenarios if the Turing test could be passed. You would have no way of knowing what you were talking to. The New Yorker ran a cartoon back in 2000. “On the Internet no one knows you are a dog?” We come across a similar problem the other way around when we encounter bad customer support. A few years ago, while trying to get an answer to a computer problem, I became convinced the thing responding to my emails was a machine.
