Damaging winds, torrential rain and seas will increase around Chaba's center, posing dangers to shipping interests. Ryukyu Islands, southern mainland Japan and southern South Korea prepare for the typhoon to make direct hit or pass dangerously close during the start of the week. Okinawa and Amami Islands are the highest risk of being battered by destructive winds and flooding rainfall through Monday, local time. Wind gusts can reach to near 125 mph. 5-10 inches of rain may lead to extensive flooding in addition to the damaging wind. After battering these islands, Chaba is then expected to curve toward mainland Japan and southern South Korea still as a strong typhoon.
