The "handrails" are the upper thin pieces of wood in the PSU's that run the length of the cabin- the rails that you may grab when standing and go to grab to stabilize yourself during turbulence. Now for your question about an alternative material(s) for the ledges and tables: We discussed the ledges in leather as an alternative material. Obviously wood veneer or carbon fiber. A fabric will not hold up over time- especially with a drink/cup holder in this area. There really aren't any other materials I could see implemented. I am confident that when we change the wood to a stained quartered oak, the whole feel of the aircraft will change. The wood in the aircraft just dates it and make it look like an old 550. I like the colors and textural feel you are going after and I am contemplating wither a warm gray or deep taupe for the carpet. The new wood, brushed "not shiny" plating will be the finishing touch to creating a couture styled interior that will make your aircraft look brand new. Best regards, Eric Eric H.
