From: "jeffrey E." <jeevacation@gmail.com> To: Subject: Date: Wed, 03 Sep 2014 10:18:38 +0000 an excerpt from many many similar emails. - Also, reading about the incidents on the blockchain and the source code of the bitcoin client it's by now very clear that there's very little decentralization about bitcoin. For instance, the core devs + mining pools owner manually reverted the blockchain in 2013 due to a split. The idea of "oh if you don't like the changes in the code you can fork and start a new block chain/currency" is the old open source bullshit smoke screens strategy which hides stuff like network effects, lock in, general population ignorance, etc etc I guess what I'm saying is that bitcoin is more of a trojan horse to 'disrupt' finance (and a fiat money making 'trick' for some) than any utopian decentralized currency thing or maybe I'm just way too cynical :) The expressed concern is representative of many that i receive from a group of super smart geeks. that selfcategorizes itself as "ethical hackers". -- Their widely held, and firm belief is that the "kernel". is manipulated by less than free market , low transaction cost thinkers. please note The information contained in this communication is confidential, may be attorney-client privileged, may constitute inside information, and is intended only for the use of the addressee.
