Date: June 28, 2018 at 1:44:13 PM EDT To: Richard Kahn < Cc: "michael glidden" Ok. The cause of the problem has been found. An injector tube gained causing compression from the motor to blow out the coolant and cause the overheat. The heads and cylinders are ok and the engine will be assembled with the new stuff tomorrow and the next day. This afternoon 6-26, while at the port authority dock, the barge port engine overheated. I stopped the engine at 210 degrees and regardless of remedial action, it did not cool down. I restarted and used it to maneuver to the berth at D dock in AYH. Inspection shows a hard turnover, water in the air boxes and the port aft inspection covers. The water pump impeller is solid and the diver observed no fouling in the keel cooler boxes. The cause of the overheat is still undetermined. The parts are ordered and work to disassemble the top portion of the motor will begin Thursday Morning as the specialist is involved with another project tomorrow. Baring any catastrophic damage discovery, an estimated 3 day repair timeline is considered a reasonable goal. Tomorrow will be spent preparing for the repairs. More to follow when it is known.
