June 1, 2012. An email arrives in Jeffrey Epstein's inbox. The subject line is one word: **"Inequality."**

The message is shorter:

> "now been put firmly on Bilderberg agenda..."[1](#sources)

The sender is Peter Mandelson — Baron Mandelson, former EU Trade Commissioner, twice-serving Labour cabinet minister, and one of the most powerful political operatives in British history.

He's texting the internal agenda of the Bilderberg Group — the most exclusive and secretive annual gathering of Western elites — directly to a registered sex offender.

The Bilderberg Group was discussing inequality. One of its attendees was reporting to Jeffrey Epstein.

## The Man Inside

Peter Mandelson appears in **4,757 documents** in the DOJ Epstein release. More than most heads of state. More than most billionaires. More than anyone except the Rothschild family and a handful of Epstein's closest associates.

He was introduced to Epstein by [Lynn Forester de Rothschild at Martha's Vineyard](/articles/lynn-forester-de-rothschild) — the same woman who connected Epstein to Bill Clinton and Alan Dershowitz.[2](#sources)

Mandelson didn't just know Epstein. He confided in him. He sought his advice. He coordinated travel through him. He reported to him from inside the room.

The Bilderberg dispatches run from 2010 to 2012. Each one reveals a little more about what this relationship actually was.

## 2005: "Do I Fit In to Your Plans?"

Before the Bilderberg years, the foundation. Christmas 2005 — Mandelson is serving as European Commissioner for Trade, one of the most powerful trade negotiators on earth. He emails Epstein:

> "When are you going to the island at Xmas? I am having trouble getting air tickets to st barts and was wondering about going via US, NY or Miami... What are your plans and do I fit in to them?"[3](#sources)

He signs the email: **"The Rt. Hon. Peter Mandelson, European Commissioner for Trade."**

Epstein's reply: "all dec, I can pay for your tickets if needed."

The EU's chief trade negotiator. Asking a private financier with no visible clients whether he can come to his Caribbean island for Christmas. The financier offering to cover the flights.

## May 2010: The Private Jet

May 29, 2010. Mandelson to Epstein — two years after Epstein's Florida conviction for soliciting a minor:

> "Is Tim Collins of Ripplewood ok guy? Apart from talking about himself all the time. **He has offered to pick me up en route to Bilderberg in plane.**"[4](#sources)

Mandelson isn't asking Epstein whether he should attend Bilderberg. He's asking Epstein to vet the man offering the ride.

Epstein's assessment: **"he is good friends with Jes [Staley], little full of himself good white house contacts."**

Tim Collins — founder of Ripplewood Holdings, a major private equity firm. Jes Staley — then head of JPMorgan's investment bank, later CEO of Barclays, now under investigation by the UK's Financial Conduct Authority for mischaracterizing his relationship with Epstein. Epstein evaluates Collins the way you'd evaluate an intelligence asset: who does he know, how useful is he, what access does he have.

In the same thread, Mandelson adds: "Ben and I come to NY 16-18 June. Anyone I should see?"

Epstein as social director. Mandelson as willing participant.

## March 2010: "R Got Into My Texts"

Three months before the Bilderberg jet conversation, a different kind of dispatch. Mandelson, panicking:

> "I have had v bad setback with R who has somehow got into my texts....."[5](#sources)

Ten minutes later:

> "what shall I do? You may need to help. How does he see them?"

Epstein's response: **"this email is probably compromised as well., lets talk."**

A former cabinet minister confiding a personal security crisis — not to his lawyers, not to the intelligence services — to a convicted sex offender. And Epstein's instinct, that their communications may be compromised, is the instinct of a man who thinks about surveillance professionally.

In the same thread, Epstein adds casually: "peter, im sure would love to see number 10.."

Number 10. Downing Street. Mentioned like a dinner reservation.

## June 2011: "Your Friend from Norway"

June 11, 2011. Epstein texts Mandelson: "today?"

Mandelson replies from St. Moritz:

> "St moritz at bilderberg with **your friend from norway**"[6](#sources)

Epstein's reply: **"which friend?"**[7](#sources)

Which friend from Norway. So many to choose from. Crown Princess Mette-Marit — wife of Crown Prince Haakon, heir to the Norwegian throne — appears in the Epstein persons directory, categorized under "royalty."[8](#sources)

Mandelson is at the Bilderberg meeting in the Swiss Alps, casually referencing Epstein's connections to Norwegian royalty. Epstein has to ask which one he means.

## September 2011: "Nat Does Not Want Me to Meet Oleg"

Three months later. Mandelson asks if Epstein saw "OD." Epstein:

> "no, nat nixed"

Mandelson: "Nixed?"

Epstein: **"Nat does not want me to meet Oleg"**[9](#sources)

Mandelson: "Either protective or jealous."

"Nat" is Nat Rothschild. "Oleg" is almost certainly Oleg Deripaska — the Russian aluminum oligarch Mandelson was famously photographed with on Rothschild's yacht in Corfu in 2008, a scandal that nearly ended his career. Everyone clearing everyone through Epstein. The circles never widen. They just rotate.

## November 2011: "Need a Lord on the Board?"

November 11, 2011. A casual Friday exchange:

Mandelson: "Buy anything in greece?"

Epstein: "Yes but very greecy"

Mandelson: **"Need a Lord on the board?"**[10](#sources)

Epstein: "An interesting visual"

Mandelson: "Bring great european insight. Just off to club 35."

A Baron of the United Kingdom offering his aristocratic title for a board seat. To a convicted sex offender buying assets during the Greek debt crisis. Six words. A peerage on the table.

## April–June 2012: The Bilderberg Season

April 2, 2012. Epstein: "any plans for the states?"

Mandelson:

> "Should be coming from Toronto around weekend May 27 **til Bilderberg the following weekend in Virginia.**"[11](#sources)

He's routing his North American schedule through Epstein. Toronto, then New York — to see Epstein — then Bilderberg in Chantilly, Virginia. Epstein as logistics coordinator. The man who needs to know the itinerary.

Then comes June 1. The inequality email. Subject: "Inequality." Body: one line. **"now been put firmly on Bilderberg agenda..."**

The Bilderberg Group operates under a strict no-press, no-recording, no-disclosure policy. Its attendees include heads of state, central bank governors, NATO leadership, and the CEOs of the world's largest corporations. The agenda is confidential.

And Peter Mandelson is texting it to a man on the sex offender registry.

## After the Dispatches

The Bilderberg correspondence trails off after 2012. The relationship doesn't.

March 2013 — Epstein invites a friend to dinner: **"come afterward, i have interesting people. ehud barak, mandelson, zucekrman."**[12](#sources) Five years post-conviction. Still hosting Mandelson alongside a former Israeli Prime Minister.

November 9, 2016 — the morning after Trump wins. Mandelson emails Epstein. Subject line: **"Well? What now?"**

Epstein's reply, in its entirety: **"Fun."**[13](#sources)

One word. A convicted sex trafficker assessing a geopolitical earthquake with the casual confidence of someone who wins either way.

## What the Dispatches Tell Us

Epstein didn't need to attend Bilderberg. He didn't need his name on the guest list. He didn't need to shake hands with Norwegian royals at St. Moritz or ride Tim Collins's jet to Chantilly, Virginia.

He had Peter Mandelson — a man who would text him the agenda, ask him to vet fellow passengers, offer his peerage for a board seat, and confide personal crises before calling his own lawyers.

The Bilderberg Group prides itself on its secrecy. Chatham House rules. No notes. No attribution. What happens in the room stays in the room.

Unless someone in the room is texting Jeffrey Epstein.
